What is fasting and what does the Bible say about it?
Fasting is abstaining from food or drink for a certain period of time.
Fasting is not a radical thing, it is a common practice in the believer’s life. Jesus talked about it in mt 6 he says “when you pray and when you fast and when you give “ things every Christian should be doing.
It disciplines us to not allow the flesh control us, the apostle Paul says “to crucify the flesh” “ beat your body into subjection “ it allows us to focus more on the lord and helps us to walk in the spirit.
Next, certain demons only respond to fasting, disciples could not cast demon out, Jesus replied “ this kind only comes out but by fasting and prayer “
What is the difference between fasting and consecration?
Consecration is different from fasting. Some misunderstand and confuse the two because they are closely related.
Consecration is to abstain/seperate from things. Ex. social media, tv, etc. .
While it’s not a bad idea to take breaks from time to time, they aren’t food. And fasting is referring to food and/or drink.
What is a corporate fast?
Corporate fast in the Old Testament was called by the leader for everyone to participate, usually for a specific reason. This was public. The whole family fasted, even the animals,
